It's hard to imagine that its been five years since Buffy left the airwaves. We've been lucky enough that there have been some pretty good television to take its place (I'm thinking Lost, Heroes, and BSG). While discussing the series there were some moments that I completely didn't remember. Since there was no new shows on due to the writers strike I thought it would be a good idea to relive all seven seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Here are some thoughts: Season six and seven weren't as bad as I remember. Season three wasn't as good as I remember. The writing still better than anything currently on TV. So I thought why not rank your top ten Buffy episodes. Well, ten turned into fifteen, fifteen to twenty, and twenty to twenty-five. So without further ado my top twenty-five Buffy the Vampire Slayer episodes:

Hush - Season 4 - How do you think this was pitched to the studio? "What if we did an episode where there was no dialog for 75% of it?" Pretty gutsy if you as me. As crazy as this sounds this "silent" episode is the epitome of the series. Silence made the acting shine. The gentlemen, the villains of the episode, are still the creepiest things that I have ever seen on TV. Even creepier than Pennywise from IT. The music is perfect in every scene. In short it's an experience that is difficult to describe and must experienced for oneself.

Once More With Feeling - Season 6 - I hadn't seen this episode since it originally aired almost seven years ago. This is, of course, the Buffy musical episode. Honestly, I have forgotten the brilliance of this episode. Although the performances aren't perfect they are given perfectly in character. The writing again is brilliant and considering that a good amount of the dialog is in song and verse that's impressive. This episode is also funny. I've never laughed harder while watching Buffy.

The Body - Season 5 – No spoilers here. One of the toughest episodes I’ve ever had to watch of any show. Gut wrenching, jarring, real. A gem of an episode.

Fear, Itself - Season 4 – I really love this episode. It’s fun, scary, disturbing and cool while developing the characters, telling the story and moving the season story arch along. That’s not easy to do.

Restless - Season 4 – Joss really turned up the weird in this episode. After the climatic battle with Adam the Scoobies huddle up for some down time at the Summers’ home. Each falls into a slumber and has a somewhat abstract dream. The cool thing about this episode is that it has so many different layer. Multiple viewings is required. "I wear the cheese; the cheese does not wear me."

Becoming Part 1 & Becoming Part 2 - Season 2 – The climatic ending to Buffy’s best season. So much is unveiled/shown in these episodes, how Buffy became a slayer, how Angel got to Sunnydale, how Angel got his soul back and a gut wrenching end for the star crossed lovers.

Innocence - Season 2 – Angel becomes his old self and Buffy wields a rocket launcher. A ROCKET LAUNCHER!

Passion - Season 2 –We finally get to see how evil Angel really is. And he’s really, really evil.

Conversations With Dead People - Season 7 – Yea, I’m surprised to see this episode so high too. What makes this episode work for me is the fascinating conversation between Buffy and Holden.

The Wish - Season 3 – What would Sunnydale be like if Buffy didn’t move there when she did? Well, it wouldn’t be pretty. Of course Vamp Willow steals the show. It’s also the first appearance of Anya.

Doppelgangland - Season 3 – Vamp Willow comes back but Sunnydale is a better place much to her chagrin.

Prophecy Girl - Season 1 – The season one finale shows how good this show can be.

Graduation Day Part One & Graduation Day Part Two - Season 3 – The climatic showdown between Buffy, Faith and the Mayor. It’s not as emotional as the season two ending but the end of season three ends with a bang.

Fool For Love - Season 5 – Seeing how Spike killed two slayers is interesting but how Spike treats Buffy at the end of the episode shows the dichotomy that torments him.

Seeing Red, Villains, Two to Go, Grave - Season 6 - I'm grouping these four together for since these episodes, the final four of the season, saved the sixth season. I think I figured out why the sixth season is my least favorite. It's dark, too dark. There are no good times for the Scoobies (musical aside). Nothing makes the characters endearing. It's nothing but pain and bad decisions. These episodes are the payoff for one tough season. The rise and fall of Dark Willow is one heck of a ride.

Halloween - Season 2 – The obligatory Halloween episode with a twist. It’s just fun to watch this episode. The role reversals is a nice twist to the season. But of course in the end Buffy saves the day.

Superstar – Season 4 – Gets on the list just for changing the credits to make it look like Jonathan was the protagonist.

Band Candy - Season 2 – Adult acting like teenagers, cats and dogs living together mass hysteria!

Angel - Season 1 – Angel is reveled to be a vampire and the star-crossed portion of our story begins.

Surprise - Season 2 - Buffy & Angel get physical but it ends badly.

Checkpoint - Season 5 – The council returns and puts the Scoobies through the paces and Xander has field time. Who knew?

Triangle - Season 5 – We get to find out what Anya was like before the whole demon thing.

Lies My Parents Told Me - Season 7 – This episode solidifies season seven by tying Robin and Spike together and putting them in the Thunderdome.

What's My Line Part One & What’s My Line Part Two - Season 2 – Two slayers? I thought there could be only one? Oh wait, that’s the other thing.

The Zeppo - Season 3 – It’s the end of the world and Xander misses out. But luckily for us his night is more interesting.

Technorati Tags: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Joss is coming back to TV with Dollhouse

<trackback:ping>http://www.jorriss.com/blog/jorriss/services/trackbacks/1107.aspx</trackback:ping>Joss is coming back to TV with Dollhouse

If you haven't heard yet Joss Whedon, the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly and Serenity, is coming back to TV this fall with Dollhouse. Dollhouse will star Buffy Alum Eliza Dushku as a "girl who can have any personality except her own." It has been described as part Alias and part Quantum Leap. I'm really excited to see Joss back on TV again. Even though shows like Heroes and Lost have filled the post Whedon void I'm excited to see what Joss can do with this concept. Fox just better not mess it up again like they did with Firefly.

I've got a problem. A few weeks ago while playing a little ball I noticed that my VC Shox II were coming apart. So, the following week I used my Shox BB4's and the same thing happened. The sole was coming apart from the shox plate. It appears that the adhesive that's used to glue the sole and the shox together failed. Since these are shoes from the same era I'm assuming that this is a flaw with the adhesive. Disappointing.

Of course that puts me on the prowl for new kicks. And since I've been playing on outdoor courts buying a new pair of Jordan XXIII is out of the question. I cannot in good conscious ruin a pair of J's playing outdoor ball. By the way, I'm in deep, admiration, no lust (can I say lust?), of this shoe. I mean just look at it. It's gorgeous. Anyway, since the 23 is out, as well as my Jordan V, XI, and beloved XIV I need to find a new pair of kicks to play in. I considered the new Lebron's but meh. So while on NikeID.com I found the Jumpman Team Elite and I likie. So my only decision is how to design it. Adamantly, I'm no designer but of course I need my new kick mirror my alma matter, the University of Miami. So here is me best attempts at shoe design. But this is where I need you, my closest internet friends, to help me decide. Below are three designs. Please leave a comment below on which design that you like or anyway you would change it. I NEED YOUR HELP! The design which wins is the shoe that I'll buy. Let the voting begin.

Although we've never been formally introduced I've seen this car before;it's the new car that one of our project managers just bought. Nice car an Infiniti FX. So I pull into a spot walk into the office and ask the PM did you leave your lights on? She didn't think so and they were supposed to turn off after thirty seconds. Since we weren't formally introduced (the car and I) we walked down to the garage and checked it out. Her lights were definitely on but something else was weird, the car was still on! Turns out she has one of those proximity keys that do not need to be plugged into the ignition. But here's the kicker, her car was unlocked. So anyone could of got in her car and driven off. I think this won't make her highlight reel.

Jed Brewer's New Album: God Quit

<trackback:ping>http://www.jorriss.com/blog/jorriss/services/trackbacks/1104.aspx</trackback:ping>Jed Brewer's New Album: God Quit

Jed Brewer has released his latest album God Quit. For those of you who don't know I first met Jed when I a student at the U. Jed's dad was the pastor at the Wesley Foundation on campus and we became friends since I spent A LOT of time there. Well, that and that he's a really great guy. Over the years I have collected his demos and albums and enjoyed not only his music but his point of view. His music is transparent, honest and real. The trashy braggadocio verses that litter popular music today is nonexistent in his thoughtful lyrics. So that being said you can download his new album, God Quit, from his site for free through June 18th. After that you can purchase it from iTunes.

And because I enjoyed it so much, here is his first video from the album "Women, God and Rock and Roll" (see it in HD).

Words can hardly describe my affection towards Michael Jordan. Jordan the basketball player, not the person. I often wonder how my kids (future tense) will view him. Will they study him and watch old games with their dad on NBA TV or will they view him the same way I view Ernie Banks, a great player but I don't know how good outside of the stats. A better question might be how will technology affect their view of the greatest balla eva? How will highlights on YouTube affect his legend. Of course, Jordan's legend continues to grows due to his marketing dominance. The twenty-third version of his shoe was released a few weeks ago and will probably sell-out at $180 a pop. His marketing longevity is sure to be studied in business schools for a long time but I guess my underlying question is how will technology affect how we lived history? With more and more information being digitized and stored what will historians say about the upcoming presidential election, the Iraq war, the Cubs winning the World Series in 2008? Intriguing questions for sure in time we will find out. Until then, watch some Jordan highlights.

For obvious reasons, the rest of the year pales in comparison. Last year was a bit different though, the Cubs actually put it together in September and gave us something to cheer about in the fall. Unfortunately for us, we couldn't even get a win in the playoffs. Our pitching couldn't hold up and we couldn't buy a hit during the Diamondback series. But here we are a day before the season starts with the same optimism that we saw in 1985, 1990, 1999 and 2004. Of course, these are the seasons that followed Cub playoff appearances and each of these seasons they finished under .500. (2004 was the only post playoff season since '46 that had an above .500 season. They had a quite respectable 89-73 but still finished sixteen games back.) But it looks like the optimism isn't just in Wrigleyville. Sports Illustrated has the Cubs going to the World Series. Seventeen out of nineteen ESPN experts have the Cubs at least winning the Central. Even a Miami Herald reporter has them winning the World Series. It's been hard for me not to get excited about this season so I'm entering Opening Day more cautious than optimistic. Let's call it cautiously optimistic. Let's face it this team, us fans, and all of Chicago needs a World Series Championship. It's been 99 years and counting lets end it this year. There have been lolcats in pictures and lolcats in code. Now, they have their own translation of the bible. Of course I use the word translation loosely. It seems that a group of people have collaborated over the internet to translate the Bible into lolcat. Since the project inception sometime last year they are now 60% completed. In case you have no idea what I'm talking about here is one of my favorite verses 1 Corinthians 13 in lolcat.

Well, they did just that. He lit up the second half with thirty-two and thirty-eight overall for a career high. This was a huge game for a young basketball team. This morning as I read the paper about the game when I noticed something...his shoes. McClutch was wearing the best Jordans ever made, the Air Jordan V. I have so many fond memories of playing ball as a sophomore in those shoes. Long after they disintegrated I still wore the laces in my bowling shoes. A few years back I bought a pair (Nike re-released the Jordan V's) that I've only worn once; during the playoffs of a church league. We lost. Jack didn't. Keep it up Jack against Texas on Easter. Prove to 'em that it isn't the shoes.

I give you Snake Eyes

<trackback:ping>http://www.jorriss.com/blog/jorriss/services/trackbacks/1097.aspx</trackback:ping>I give you Snake Eyes

When I was a kid I love G.I. After a horrid start to the ACC season the University of Miami basketball team is back in the NCAA tourney. My only expectation is that they win one. Just beat St. Mary's and chalk up the learning experience. If you win more great! I'll love every second. Personally, I sometimes have a tough time watching UM B-Ball. During my time at UM I had a great affinity towards the team. We went to a bunch of games and occasionally played some pick-up with some of the guys (and gals) on the team. When Coach Clark left I was disappointed but when Michael Jordan knocks on your door you answer it. Then came Perry Clark and destroyed everything that Coach Clark built. Here's my Perry Clark story. I saw Perry Clark in a Barnes and Noble one day in the Gables. I soooo wanted to tell him that I appreciated the way he destroyed a team that I loved. But of course I didn't have enough guts to do it so I just left. When the Perry Clark experiment was over Frank Haith came in picked up the pieces and began to build. He's built a tough little team and hopefully they can make some noise this weekend. Good luck guys make the U proud.

After not much searching I found this article entitled "How can I publish to my blog offline?" It discusses the MetaWeblog API that Community Server uses and links to a tool called Windows Live Writer. Windows Live Writer is a Microsoft application that is specifically designed to allow bloggers to construct, modify and publish blog posts. One of the things that I like about it is you can view the blog post in the style that it will look on the web. It also uploads the pics that you use in the post seamlessly to the blog site. It also supports plug-ins that developers can create to automate common blogging tasks such as inserting a video, a map or a Flickr image. I've been very impressed with the tool and I'm looking forward to using it more.

The other tool that I found was Copy Source As HTML. I'll be using this on Jorriss.net when I have to copy source code from Visual Studio into a post. I used a tool similar to this before and it really helps with putting the source code in a readable format.

Can reason and faith co-exist?

<trackback:ping>http://www.jorriss.com/blog/jorriss/services/trackbacks/1094.aspx</trackback:ping>Can reason and faith co-exist?

Take a look. This pic is probably a fake. Created by someone and placed on the internet to show an "ironic" view of the Church. This is what the world thinks of Christians. Unreasonable. Unintelligent. Blinded. Unwilling to use their minds and view "reality". But is reason truly at odds with faith or can we have a "reasonable" faith? I sometimes wonder how some people like C.S. Lewis and Josh McDowell, both skeptics of Christianity, became Christians unless they were presented with a reasonable argument for Christianity. I believe that I do have a "reasonable" faith. Christianity should be easy to disprove. Prove that Christ didn't fulfill any one of the 333 Messianic prophesies. Prove that he didn't die on the cross. Prove that he didn't rise from the dead. Sounds simple. But in over 2,000 years no one has been able to do so. So how do we change this image of being "unreasonable"? I think it's by showing respect and love, one person at a time.

Didn't think it would happen did ya?

<trackback:ping>http://www.jorriss.com/blog/jorriss/services/trackbacks/1093.aspx</trackback:ping>Didn't think it would happen did ya?

I'm back. It's been a long time since my last post. Since then Alexa is 1.5 times older, I've been promoted at work, I've gotten more involved at church and I'm busier than ever. I did have a good logical reason why I stopped blogging but I'm going to save that for later. I've also been able to move the blog from .Text to Community Server thanks to Kevin Harder and his migration tool. I was able to move web hosts as well. I'm still going to keep the personal stuff on Jorriss.com and the technical stuff at Jorriss.net. The design of the blogs will also be changing over the next few months. Frankly, I have no idea what it's going to look like. Maybe J can help. Anyways brace yourself kids...I'm back.

Is Kirk Herbstreit a prophet?

<trackback:ping>http://www.jorriss.com/blog/jorriss/services/trackbacks/1092.aspx</trackback:ping>Is Kirk Herbstreit a prophet?

I wake up this dark Labor Day morning turn on Sports Center and what did I find? Our favorite college football analyst being right again! Not only did he say that the Hurricanes were going to beat FSU but...well read it for yourself below!

What we'll we know once this thing is over? Cause there is a chance that these two team meet in the ACC championship game. But after game one what we'll we know?

"What we'll know is that Miami is not only the best team in the state of Florida, Miami is the best team in the country by the time we get to the end of the year. I know I'm going out on a limb here. I'm on an island. I'm on an island here with the Canes. But I really believe that their defense we'll eventually be as good as there is in college football. Randy Shannon the defensive coordinator does a great job. And I think on offense, with Rich Olsen now running the show as an offensive coordinator, bringing that pro speed into the Canes offense, an experienced quarterback with Kyle Wright. Keep in mind Javarris James, Edgerrin James cousin, is going to get a good look at Florida State. I really believe that in about three or four weeks everybody is going to be piling on Miami. I like to start that engine a little bit early in the year. I think you're gonna learn that Miami is for real after this game."

Thanks, Kirk. Welcome back on the bandwagon. Even with a cold I'm so pumped for this game! I'll be there, as usual, in section W. The bowl will be rockin tonight.

Just look at Corso, he looks like and idiot.

Welcome Home Discovery!

<trackback:ping>http://www.jorriss.com/blog/jorriss/services/trackbacks/1091.aspx</trackback:ping>Welcome Home Discovery!

Congratulations to the crew of STS-121 Discovery on a successful landing and a successful mission.
Last week I posted my top ten comic villains of all time. As it turns out J and I were in B&N this week and guess what was on the cover of Wizard? The 100 Greatest Villains Ever. Wizard included TV, movies, books, comics and practically all of pop culture in their list. But I thought it would be a good idea to see how my list compares to theirs.

10. Identity Crisis Villain – Wizard Ranking: Not Ranked. I’m not surprised that this one wasn’t ranked. Maybe there hasn’t been enough time for this one to sink into the subconscious or maybe they didn’t want to give away the ending either way it wasn’t on the list.
9. Onslaught – Wizard Ranking: Not Ranked. Again I’m not surprised this one didn’t make it either. Too many think Onslaught was a wuss.
8. Anti-Monitor – Wizard Ranking: Not Ranked. Three strikes and you’re out. I am surprised that the Anti-Monitor wasn’t on the list. Crisis is so revered in the comic ‘verse I expected that the main villain of the event that changed the DC universe in hundreds of ways to be somewhere on the list.
7. Venom – Wizard Ranking: 67. If they just didn’t screw with him in the 90’s maybe he would have been higher.
6. Dark Phoenix – Wizard Ranking: 38. She ranked behind Mayor Wilkins (Buffy), Hans Gruber (Die Hard) and Jabba The Hutt. I have no major qualms with that.
5. Cassandra Nova – Wizard Ranking: Not Ranked. To leave off the best villain to be created in the ‘00s is a HUGE oversight.
4. Green Goblin – Wizard Ranking: 19. The Green Goblin should have been one spot higher right above Galactus, not behind.
3. Lex Luthor – Wizard Ranking: 8. Behind the Borg and Hannibal Lecter? I’ll buy it.
2. Joker –Wizard Ranking: 1. In their write up of Joker they mentioned that he killed Commissioner Gordon’s wife Sarah and created a universe so he could kill and resurrect Batman over and over. That’s just sick!
1. Magneto – Wizard Ranking: 17. They should have swapped Magneto’s spot (17) with Dr. Doom’s spot (4). I always thought Doom was a crappy character.

Here’s Wizard’s top twenty villains:

1. The Joker – DC Comics
2. Pazuzu – The Exorcist
3. Palpatine – Star Wars
4. Dr. Doom – Marvel Comics
5. Zombies – Dawn of the Dead (2004)
6. Hannibal Lecter – Silence of the Lambs
7. The Borg – Star Trek: The Next Generation
8. Lex Luthor – DC Comics
9. Pinhead – Hellraiser
10.
J and I were talking last night and since Superman Returns just opened we got on the topic of best comic villains of all time. Without any further ado here is my top ten comic villains.

10. Identity Crisis Villain – Since this book is only a few years old and there are so many who have not read it (shame on you) I won’t give away the culprit. Let’s just say this whodunit has a antagonist you won’t suspect.
9. Onslaught – Some think that Onslaught was lame they may be right. But to almost destroy the entire Marvel universe deserves a spot on my list.
8. Anti-Monitor – As a kid I read Crisis on Infinite Earths a few hundred times and to this day I still don’t understand some of the things that go on in this book. But one thing I do know is that the Anti-Monitor was a bad mamajamma and almost succeeded in riding the universe of all positive matter.
7. Venom – When the parasite that Spider-Man used as one of the coolest costumes ever merged with loser Eddie Brock Venom was created. Bringing his own brand of justice and psychosis to Spidey’s world Venom is a force to be reckoned with. Just thinking about Amazing Spider-Man #300 where Venom terrorizes Mary Jane still freaks me out.
6. Dark Phoenix – Taking over the body of the hottest X-Men ever. Check. Kill five billion people. Check. Be the center of the best comic arcs ever. Priceless.
5. Cassandra Nova – The twin sister of Professor Charles Xavier murdered over sixteen million mutants on Genosha by commanding an army of Sentinels. She then proceeds to nearly defeat Prof X and the X-Men. Grant Morrison, the creator of Cassandra Nova, is a genius
4. Green Goblin – He makes this list just by murdering Peter Parker’s first love, Gwen Stacy. Peter is still haunted by her death to this day.
3. Lex Luthor - I’ve got to put Lex on the list for never giving up on his dream of a world without Superman. He even threw away his position as President of the United States to destroy Supes. Gotta love a man with a dream.
2. Joker – Any villain who kills Robin and paralyzes Batgirl needs to be on this list. And I don’t care what you say about the Red Hood, Jason Todd is dead!
1. Magneto – The long time nemesis of the X-Men is a complex and deep villain. He’s been bad, good, evil, young, old and really, really, evil. When he ripped out Wolvie’s adamantium Prof X mind wiped him causing the creation of villain number nine, Onslaught. Then he infiltrates the X-Mansion and works as a teacher for months and uses micro-sentinels to give Xavier the ability to walk. When he finally reveals himself he destroys much of NYC and kills Jean Grey. If that’s not the epitome of a villain I don’t know what is.

2006 World Champs: Miami Heat!

<trackback:ping>http://www.jorriss.com/blog/jorriss/services/trackbacks/1088.aspx</trackback:ping>2006 World Champs: Miami Heat!
Congratulations to the Miami Heat for disproving all doubters and winning four straight against a tough Dallas team. Wade was simply incredible this series averaging thirty-four points a game and hitting clutch shot after clutch shot. Of course I'm happy for Shaq and Riley who both promised a championship when they rolled into town but I'm really happy for Zo. For so long he was the face of Miami basketball: tough defense and all heart. He showed that face in game six where he comes into the game fourteen points down and gives Miami an emotional lift with blocked shots and a tenacious dunk. He played like he would never step foot on the court again and he may not. It was a tough road but they got it done. So drink it up Miami you won't see another championship until this winter when the Miami Hurricanes claim the 2006 National Championship (I hope). The latest vid is from John Dvorak's blog and features a cat and a ceiling fan. I later found out that this clip is taken from a Nokia commercial and it apears that the cat is ok. Gnarles Barkey is the collaboration between DJ Danger Mouse whose Grey Album mixed Jay-Z's Black Album with the Beatles White Album and Cee-Lo a veteran songwriter/producer/singer. What made this performance memorable was that each of the performers were wearing Star Wars costumes. Vader, rebel pilots, Imperial commanders, Jango Fett, a Jedi Knight and yes a Wookie were represented in the one song set. It was an impressive scene. You can see it for yourself below.
You scored as Cyclops. Codename: Cyclops Full Name: Scott Summers Mutant Powers: Optic blasts of intense light-beams. Scott Summers was an early follower of Xavier's dream and a mutant that suffered all his life.As a young boy, Scott and his brother, Alex Summers, were with his parents on a plane of his dad. But then, a SHIAR ship destroyed the plane, capturing both Scott´s mother and father. Just before being kidnapped, Scott´s father, Major Christopher Summers, gave a parachute to his sons and dropped them out of the plane. The ´chute didn´t open, and Scott first manifested his mutant powers, as he used his optic blasts to slow down the fall. The boys were found in a forest, sleeping. Alex was adopted by a family, but Scott was sent to an orphanage, that was owned by Nathaniel Essex, a.k.a. Mr. Sinister. Sinister discovered the genetical potencial that lied within Scott, and began to make experiments on him. Many years later, Charles Xavier found Scott by using Cerebro, and took him away from the orphanage. Before he left, Sinister took away Scott's memories of his time there. Cyclops was a member of the original five X-men, and there he fell in love with another teammate, Marvel Girl, or Jean Grey. Eventually, he met his brother, Alex, who now went by the name of Havok, and later his father, who now called himself Cosair and was leader of an alien vessel that fought in space.

After a few days of trying to recharge them I swapped them out for AA batteries and went on with my life. Yesterday, I was talking to ALow his battery pack was doing the same thing. After a bit of googling I found this knowledge base article which describes some possible solutions for the battery pack problem. The document suggested to “use a cotton swab and some isopropyl alcohol to clean the four gold contacts on the Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery Pack and on the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller.” After cleaning both controllers and batteries they charge perfectly. When I shut down the console the one of the lights on the controller was dimly lit. So once again google turns up this gem. According to the post to turn off the light and to avoid draining the battery take the battery pack out and put it back in. Brilliant. And of course it works.

NCAA Football 2007: I might just be able to see myself in section W

<trackback:ping>http://www.jorriss.com/blog/jorriss/services/trackbacks/1079.aspx</trackback:ping>NCAA Football 2007: I might just be able to see myself in section W

One of the editors from 1up.com was recently on DL.TV and spoke very highly of NCAA Football 2007 for the XBox 360. So I decided to Google a bit and see if I can find a preview of the game. Of course Google knows all and IGN has an excellent write up on the new version of my favorite football game. According to the article, EA sent a team of people to photograph and measure seventy different stadiums. They also used satellites to capture the sun position to add photorealistic detail to the game. EA has also done away with the cardboard crowds and replaced them with more realistic fans. They’ve also accurately located student sections, alumni sections, visitor sections and even the band sections. Unfortunately, they’ve also added the FSU chop and the Gator chomp. I guess no game is perfect. I wonder if they will add the Orange Bowl “Gators Suck!” chant and the mock FSU chant (Bleep you Seminoles, Seminoles bleep you!)? One could only hope. Also, the 360 stadium versions will boast 125,000 polygons as opposed to the current generations 2,500 polys.

Other highlights:

· A new momentum meter has been added that leads to big plays both on offense and defense.

I’m really looking forward to this game but my biggest question is how will it play on Xbox Live? Will there be a mode over live so I can set up a league against my friends? There better be since I need to get all of you loser UM IV alum a reason to get a 360.

I also found a Flickr photoset of NCAA Football 2007 covers. We all know that Reggie Bush will be on this years cover but it looks like Photoshopped equipped indivisuals have made their own covers. There are some UM covers in the set and they are the U cover, the DJ cover, the Baraka cover, and the Merriweather cover. But I think we can all agree that EA would sell a TON more games if they just went with the Alba cover.

NCAA Football 2007 will be released on July 18th.

Some of you that aren’t a geek might wonder what do those geek types chat about. Well wonder no more! Here’s a conversation I had with my boy J about the village idiot, Superman.

J: did I ask you if you watched Smallville season finale?
Jorriss Orroz: Yup. ZOD!
Jorriss Orroz: I'm glad they brought the mirror prison back.
J: yeah..the phantom zone
J: course, now they are totally speeding up the mythos compaired to the movies
Jorriss Orroz: It was always its own mythos.
Jorriss Orroz: Clark & Lex friends?
Jorriss Orroz: cmon
J: but I really like the Zod story...hope first few episodes next season are awesome
Jorriss Orroz: The last few eps further promotes my theory that Clark is an idiot!
J: yeah...I agree with you there
J: there is such a thing as "too good"
Jorriss Orroz: Unlike Supes in the series finale of JLU
J: didn't see
Jorriss Orroz: Damn. Supes was like "I always need to keep it under control or people die. But I think you can take it Darkside. Now I can finally cut it loose."
Jorriss Orroz: Then procedes to beat the living hell out of him.
J: sweeet
Jorriss Orroz: Supes actually outshined Bats in that ep.
J: as he should
Jorriss Orroz: Cmon. Bats always outshine the boy scout.
Jorriss Orroz: Got the money, got the ladies, acts like a complete bad azz
J: If I was Batman...I would look at Supe every day and just be like "Damn...I'm glad your on our side boy"...."if only I had your powers...if only"
Jorriss Orroz: meanwhile supes is all clutzy around Lois, an all-around dweeb, and is all merciful.
Jorriss Orroz: Hell no. Bats would be like "how would you like a kryptonite batarang up your azz boy scout?"
J: now taht would be a good comic...Red Cypto Superman vs. Kryptonite laden Batman
Jorriss Orroz: What makes you think Bats doesn't have Kryptonite on him AT ALL TIMES in his handy dandy belt?
J: tru...just in case
Jorriss Orroz: Supes wants to be Bats all the money, all the girls, you know he wants it.
J: nah...he's too innocent...he needs the red kryptonite just to get his wild side out.
J: probably more comfortable knitting at home with Aquaman
Jorriss Orroz: ooff. Supes swinging that way? I can totally see it.
J: ...real world Metropolis
J: lol
